I have been going LKQ Mount Airy or Crazy Rays for years. They have an up to date inventory online, and I have been lucky to get some gems. Only a $3 admission fee, REMEMBER TO CARRY CASH for the admission and soda machine.
Recently, their organization has been confusing. Imports, Europeans, GM, Ford, Dodge, etc used to be well organized by vehicle type and brand, not anymore. Finding what my friend and I needed to get was confusing. I counted at least fifteen brands in the same corner of the yard. This is more of an inconvenience or nitpick.
The prices for their items has gotten more expensive since 2020, but it's not exactly their fault. More like the market and inflation. There are teams of scavengers, that their job is to take high demand items before anyone else. Again not LKQs fault directly, they are a business at the end of the day.
At least for me, they still are cheaper than some new parts. I have a 20 year old Chrysler LH car, Mount Airy is the best junkyard in the DMV area in my opinion and for my car. Hopefully the yard organization and parts prices will get better soon.
